Water Treatment Process Modeling, Conceptual Design and Optimization Consultant

Steve Portelance

My career began in 1969 acquiring experience in Mining, Production Quality Control and Environmental control testing, assessment and tailings disposal then expanded into, Heavy Oil produced water treatment, Steam Production, Domestic Waste treatment then plant water and wastewater treatment and pre-feed design.

I have been involved in all aspects of Water Treatment processing, from planning, designing, piloting, commissioning, testing, technology application, troubleshooting, and optimization, working in both the office and in the field.  My project work with fresh, produced and waste water systems has included clarification, hot and warm lime softening, degassing, WAC and SAC ion exchange, reverse osmosis, cross flow membrane filtration, Hydro-cyclone separation, Free Water Knockout operation, Skim Tank process optimization, Radio Isotope Tracing, and Gas Flotation operation, mechanical and steam evaporation and cooling tower waste treatment.  Over the last 9 years I have enjoyed developing my expertise in process chemistry modeling in all areas of water treatment, steam production and waste water treatment. I enjoy participating and presenting technical papers at industrial water conferences and am a long-standing member of the Association of Science & Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).
